The villa benefits from a quiet and secluded location amongst our own century old olive and fruit trees.
Just a 12 minute drive away is the historic “white town” of Ostuni, set on a ridge and famous for its whitewashed houses, connected by medieval alleys and arches, with boutiques and restaurants carved out of the rock serving excellent local fare, including fresh seafood, pizzas and the local "Orecchiette" pasta. From the top of the "citadel", with its beautiful cathedral, there are incredible views over miles of olive trees to the Adriatic coast (15 min drive away) with its many sandy beaches, lido's and nature reserves.
We are also a 10 minute drive from Carovigno which, as well as having its own smaller citadel (with an interesting castle), is perfect for local shopping, pizzerias, bars and “take away” chicken from the Girarrosto Rosticceria (recommended!).
Easily accessible are UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Alberobello with its famous "Trulli" houses, Baroque Lecce, often called "The Florence of the South" and less known but just as picturesque small towns such as Locorotondo, Martina Franca and Otranto. For families we recommend a trip to Zoosafari at Fasano, and there's a good waterpark there too.
There are excellent supermarkets, bakeries and local shops in both Ostuni and Carovigno as well as bars, restaurants and pizzerias, ranging from gourmet to great value! The local Salento wines are inexpensive and very good.
Brindisi airport is just 30 minutes drive away from the villa, and Bari a little further - around 1 hour, 20 mins. Both cities are very interesting to explore.
